Yesterday on Yahoo! Sports, writer Jay Busbee wrote an article about NBC's apology for their opening before the U.S. Open on Sunday. The opening showed a montage of military personnel, the American flag, and children saying the Pledge of Allegiance. The opening immediately caused controversy, however, because of the omission of certain words. The Pledge was said twice in the montage, leaving out "under God" both times. Also left out were the words "indivisible" and "one nation." Later in their coverage of the U.S. Open, NBC issued a formal apology claiming they did not intend to offend anyone.
