Earlier today it was first announced by The Wrap that a director had officially been chosen to helm the new Star Wars film. J.J. Abrams, known for such projects as Lost, Super 8, and the rebooted Star Trek franchise, is set to take on the role.

It was first announced that a new set of Star Wars films were to be expected once Disney purchased Lucasfilm last year. This first film is slated for a 2015 release, ten years after the last Star Wars film made it into theaters.

Joining Abrams in this project is screenwriter Michael Arndt who will pen the script. Arndt is known for his work on the screenplays for Toy Story 3 and Little Miss Sunshine. He is also responsible for writing the script for this years' The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

With the talents of these two coming together for the newest Star Wars film, expectations will be high. Like they wouldn't be already, right? For more information, please click on the link below.
