Holiday Experiment: Realeyez Apparel Gives Us 'A Presence of Presents'

J.K. Rowling is working on the play which will tell the story of Harry's life before his time at Hogwarts. She will co-produce the play along with Sonia Friedman and Colin Callendar, two veteran British theater producers.

Yesterday afternoon a Tweet from Bryan Singer brought some interesting news to our attention. Singer, who has produced and directed multiple X-Men films, tweeted, "#Xmen #Apocalypse 2016!"

It's a simple tweet, but Darren Franich has posted an article on Entertainment Weekly that helps explain what this means. They have confirmed with 20th Century Fox that there is indeed a film called X-Men: Apocalypse scheduled for release on May 27, 2016.

No further details are available at this time, so there's even no telling which X-Men cast will be present in the film. It could be First Class X-Men or the Original Trilogy X-Men, or possibly a combination of the two as we'll see in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.

One thing was made clear by Franich's article. It seems Apocalypse is one of the X-Men's toughest enemies. He's apparently the world's first mutant with a wide array of powers at his disposal. As with comic book films, there are surely multiple directions they can go with this story.

Actor Paul Walker Dies in Car Crash

On November 30, 2013, actor Paul Walker passed away in a fiery car crash in California. He was a passenger in a vehicle that hit something on the side of the road. Countless celebrities and fans are in shock over this tragic turn of events.

Paul Walker was best known for his role in the Fast & Furious series of films where he worked with such celebrities as Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris. The 7th installment in the series is currently scheduled for release in the summer of 2014.

Walker was 40 years old and his death is a tragedy. He is survived by his daughter Meadow. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. RIP Paul Walker.

Minivan Traffic Stop Escalates to Shots Fired for a Mother and Her Kids

This video above is from ABC News. The footage shows the dash cam of a New Mexico State Police vehicle. The incident it captures is the dramatic escalation from routine traffic stop to officers opening fire. Oriana Ferrell was pulled over in her minivan for speeding. After the officer steps away from the vehicle, Ferrell takes off. She then pulls over again once the officer catches back up to her.

This time, the officer yells at Ferrell to step out of the vehicle. He even appears to pull her from the van as her five children begin screaming. Once she is out of the vehicle, they talk momentarily but then she attempts to reenter the van. Her 14 year old son then rushes at the officer and is chased back into the van once his taser is pulled.

The officer then pulls out his baton and shatters the van's passenger side window as backup arrives on the scene. Ferrell starts pulling away again and an officer that had just arrived pulls his gun and fires three shots at the vehicle.

The officers chase Ferrell down again and finally arrest her and her son. According to an article by Gillian Mohney for ABC News, Oriana Ferrell is charged with five counts of abuse of a child, aggravated fleeing of an officer, resisting an officer, reckless driving, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her son is being charged with battery of an officer.

An internal investigation has been launched to review the actions of the officers in this situation. It seems as if there is no doubt, however, that both parties involved are guilty of wrongdoing. The mother for endangering her five children and resisting officers. The officers for shattering a window and opening fire on a minivan full of kids.

It was announced yesterday that the end of an era was officially here. Blockbuster has announced that they intend to close all of their remaining retail stores in early 2014, as well as discontinue their movie mailing service. The company, which was founded in 1985, had become an incredible success and dominated the 1990's with their movie rental service.

Failing to keep up with the times, however, they began losing ground to competition such as Netflix, which offered movies through the mail. Blockbuster was too slow to adjust to society's quickly changing entertainment methods. According to an article on The Huffington Post, Blockbuster was purchased by DISH Network at a bankruptcy auction in 2011 for $320 million. Blockbuster at its peak, however, had a market value of $5 billion in 2002.

Apple Unveils New iPad Air and iPad Mini

Today marked another announcement from Apple. They unveiled their newest collection of iPads. The updated iPad is now the iPad Air and has a couple of the new updates that we saw with the release of the iPhone 5S. These updates include the A7 and M7 chips. The new version will be released on November 1, 2013, and will start at $499.

The newer version of the iPad Mini is the iPad Mini with Retina Display. This saw a boost in display resolution and will also include the new A7 processor. This device is set to release sometime later in November and will start at $399, whereas the original iPad Mini started at $329.

Both of these new devices will come in only space gray or silver. There is no gold option available. Also worth noting, neither of these devices will contain the new Touch ID sensor that is found on the iPhone 5S.

Today on Yahoo! News, a video from Trending Now was posted about a few good samaritans in Boston. A man had accidentally walked off the platform and took a hard fall onto the subway tracks. It became evident that the man was not responding to the crowd's concern. Therefore, a few individuals quickly jumped down to lift him back onto the platform. The station crew was apparently alerted in time to stop incoming trains, but these bystanders were not aware of this. They selflessly acted to help save this stranger's life. An amazing story and video that reminds us that there are still good people left in this world.

Tuesday on Yahoo! Finance, The Daily Ticker's Morgan Korn posted an article and video about the recent controversial statements of one Harry Binswanger. This former college professor sat down with two individuals from The Daily Ticker, including Aaron Task and Henry Blodget.

According to the article and video, it seems that Binswanger firmly believes that the 99% are indebted to 1%. The 99% should give back to the 1% for "their enormous contributions to our standard of living." Also, Binswanger believes that the 1% should therefore not be punished by having to pay taxes. They should be exempt.

J.K. Rowling to Revisit the Wizarding World

According to an announcement today by J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros., the wizarding world is going to make another appearance on the big screen. A short article on USA Today's website details the announcement. J.K. Rowling will be making her screenwriting debut to pen the script for an upcoming film based on the Harry Potter textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The film is to be the first in a new series of films.

The story will follow the book's author Newt Scamander and will be neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter films. The story will take place in the same wizarding world containing muggles and witches/wizards, but will occur some 70 years before Harry Potter's time.

Apple Unveils iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C

Today was the day for Apple's big announcement. They unveiled their two new phones, the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C. As predicted by some rumors, it appears as though Apple will no longer sell their iPhone 5 models. They will offer the iPhone 5S starting at $199, the iPhone 5C starting at $99, and the iPhone 4S at $0.

It seems as though the rumors discussed in my blog post last week were accurate. Click here to read last week's post. It is interesting to note, however, that the iPhone 5C will be available for pre-order on Friday, September 13th, but the iPhone 5S does not have a pre-order date at all. Instead, customers are directed to place orders on the actual release date of Friday, September 20th, or they can purchase in stores starting at 8AM that morning.

Apple Announces iPhone 5S in One Week

According to rumors all over the internet, Apple is set to announce their next iPhone model in one week. Apparently, Apple has confirmed a media event for next Tuesday, September 10, 2013. At this event, Apple will reveal the iPhone 5S, the iPhone 5C, and the new iOS 7.

The iPhone 5S, while retaining the physical design of the iPhone 5, should have other substantial upgrades. According to an article from Mirror News, the new model of iPhone should have a faster A7 processor compared to the A6 processor in the iPhone 5. The article claims that the A7 is 31% faster than the current version.

As well as a new processor, the iPhone 5S is rumored to have a Retina+ Sharp IGZO display. It should also include a 13MP camera with a dual LED flash which will increase performance with low-light photography. The new model should also be available in a new color or two, champagne and possibly graphite.

The article on Mirror News also describes a chip in the new iPhone 5S that could be related to motion tracking. The new chip could track user's eye movement while using their iPhones. For example, if they look away from the display, the screen light may dim.

The iPhone 5C will be a cheaper, more affordable version of the iPhone. This model should have a plastic casing that helps cut down on costs. Also, this model is rumored to be available in a variety of colors, including pink, blue, and yellow.
