Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead at 46

Breaking news came out today about actor Philip Seymour Hoffman. He has reportedly been found dead in his New York City apartment. He was 46 years old.

No official cause of death has been reported at this time, however, police are suspecting that a drug overdose is to blame. Hoffman was apparently found in his apartment with a needle in his arm and heroin on the scene.

According to an article by Jenny Depper with Yahoo! Movies, Hoffman has suffered from drug abuse in the past. In an interview from 2006, he mentioned his struggles when he was in school at New York University, and stated that he got sober when he was 22 years old. Then, almost a year ago in May 2013, the actor checked into rehab for heroin addiction.

Philip Seymour Hoffman was an incredibly talented actor who won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role on Capote. He was also known for his work on such films as The Master, Doubt, and Charlie Wilson's War. Also, he was introduced in the latest Hunger Games film, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

According to the article, Hoffman is survived by his three children under the age of 11, Tallulah Hoffman, Cooper Alexander Hoffman, and Willa Hoffman. He is also survived by their mother Mimi O'Donnell. The two were not married but had been together since 1999.
