Man Denied Blood Donation For Seeming To Be Gay

Found On: www.fundraw.com
Yesterday on Yahoo! News' The Lookout, Zachary Roth posted an article about a man that was turned away from donating blood because he seemed to be gay. The man, Aaron Pace, 22, was turned away from Bio-Blood Components, Inc. Although Pace has feminine qualities, he claims he is not gay. He claims to disagree with the fact that homosexuals cannot donate blood.

The denial of homosexuals to donate blood started in 1983 before testing was available to determine if someone's blood was HIV+. Of course nowadays, however, all blood is tested thoroughly before being donated. According to the article, studies show that denying homosexuals from donating blood takes away around 219,000 pints of blood every year. Even still, the Department of Health and Human Services has decided not to change the policy. Be sure to click on the link below to read the rest of Roth's article.
